Emotional pain registers in our brain exactly the same way physical pain does.
This means emotional abuse or neglect is equally as significant to your well being as physical.
Heartache, loneliness, rejection, worthlessness and abandonment are the most powerful emotions because they elicit fear in us.
The fear causes us to act or react in ways and do things we wouldn’t normally if we felt healthy confident and strong.
Recognizing what emotional pain you are feeling helps to alleviate the fear. Only a little bit the first time.. But the more you learn the way around your emotion… The less scary it gets.
Stick with the pain. Don’t act or react trying to alleviate it. Just keep doing life, as best you can, and wait it out until it passes.
It does pass.
Each time the painful part will get progressively shorter until it becomes something you only notice.
And slowly but surely… You won’t be a prisoner of fear or emotions anymore.
