A few rules you need to know.

When I was a full time Mom the odd person would ask me… “Jodi, what are you doing for you?”

I can still remember the absolute blank feeling trying to find an answer.

Of course I wasn’t doing anything for me, but it felt like I was doing everything for me at the same time. Looking after my family was busy and a full time job. And I loved it.

But here’s what I’ve learned over the years of being a full time and working full time.

You still have to look after you, and there are a few rules to doing that.

Having something to look forward to matters. If you don’t have things you’re looking forward to, the days become very long.

Variety matters. You can not sit in front of a computer for hours on end and fill your spirit. You can’t do any kind of work that long. You need variety.

You need time to just be. No thinking allowed. Whether it’s in nature, or at your kids sports it doesn’t matter as long as you shut off.

Exercise makes you feel strong. That’s a good feeling.

Keeping things light helps your brain solve problems faster.

Progress is fun.., but everything needs to progress, which includes high. And it includes your mental, physical and emotional self.

Burn out sucks and takes too long to recover from. So all of the above is important to stop the burn out.

And also… try to find a way for everyone to win. It’s not a victory if you leave someone else in worse shape.

But mostly… make sure you take time to stop thinking and refuel your heart. No matter what your role in life is, you need to be the best version of you for it. And you are the best version when your heart is full.
