A few weeks back a good friend of mine posted this on Facebook

A beginning rider want to work on intermediate horsemanship. An intermediate rider wants to work on advanced horsemanship, but an advanced horseman works on the basics.

This is true of all skills, not just horsemanship.

And everything in life, from typing to relationships are skills.

You can’t only ever work on the basics. You need to go through the stages and then come back to refining the basics because going all the way through is how you determine what matters.

You will learn as you go, but when you get to the part where the nuance starts to matter then you return to the basics or core principles that show up at every step.

And when you get to the part where you go back to basics, then you start to pull away from the crowd.

A wise learner will return to the basics all of the way through the learning journey.

I’ve been wondering what the basics are for this blog. I think it might be time to return to them. Do you know what they might be?
