I can get so frustrated by the way life doesn’t appear to be unfolding. I really like things to happen fast once they have been put into motion.
Somehow, some situations just keep hanging around without a hard and fast resolution.
But every once in a while I see a glimmer of light. I get a new understanding and I am reminded once again that everything is happening exactly as it should.
Or better yet, I look back and see how far I have come.
That is my favourite.
If I look far enough back, I can see huge changes. Sometimes I have to go quite far. If I dig deep into my own journey, I can find subtle changes in myself without going very far back.
We are always progressing, even if only a little bit. But, we don’t always remember to be grateful for the progress we have made, when we are looking into the future.
This is the key. I call this backwards gratitude.
It has saved me from the odd emotional outburst.
And every time we can save ourselves, even a little bit, I think there is some grace in that.
