Guilt.

It’s a sneaky emotion and the root of guilt, is not feeling like you aren’t enough.

When we don’t believe we are good enough, doing enough, showing up enough, trying enough, or being enough, we feel guilt when someone or something triggers us.

This results in blaming others, controlling situations, and betrayal of self.

But that guilt is simply a mirror.

I’ve been there so many times. When other people accuse me of not being “enough”… not trying hard enough, not showing up enough, not friendly enough, or simply just not good enough for them… it sends me into a negative feedback loop of how I should be more.

And I feel guilty.

These messages from others used to paralyze me and shut me down. I would give in, conform, and betray myself by giving up on my goals, plans, dreams, and future. I would let them tell me I wasn’t worthy of what was important to me and a small part of me would die inside.

But I’m learning to recognize those triggers.

I know that I am enough. I’ve worked really hard to earn that ‘enough’ badge.

I will no longer let just anyone tell me I have to be more, because I am already giving it all I’ve got.

When you surround yourself with the doers and the dreamers you are never told you aren’t enough because they recognize in you that you are enough. These amazing people will find ways to help you, they won’t shut you down.

It is the people who want more or expect more, are the ones who aren’t giving it all they’ve got, they are sitting back pointing at the others. We don’t need to be angry with them, it’s their choice about how to live their life.

But you must not let them shut you down or give up on your dream.

You have to believe that you are already enough, no matter what they say.

If they tell you that you aren’t ‘enough’ for them you don’t have to try harder to please them, you don’t need to feel guilty, and you don’t need to be more because it’s not about you.

All you have to do is carry on being your wonderful guilt free self, living your life with all you’ve got… and the rest will look after itself.
