We like to think we are an adult, our own person, and we do what we want. We might think nobody can tell us what to do or who to be, or we might even consider ourself a rebel in some regards.
The real truth is we almost always have someone else’s voice in our head, someone we are trying to impress, and because we are deeply community wired our ultimate fear is being isolated, unloved, and rejected by our people.
We are usually working overtime to please someone else.
This is all ok.
A life lived for only ourself and all on our own wouldn’t hardly be worth living.
The key is to be aware of who’s voice is in your head, to know who you are trying to impress, and which person you want to please. Sometimes it’s someone you don’t even necessarily like, sometimes it’s someone who has passed on, and sometimes it’s the key players.
Once you find this awareness you will make choices that allow you to move forward. Others are allowed to have their opinions which may be different than yours because they don’t know the whole story.
You don’t have to allow the opinions of others and the voices in your head to stop you, slow you down, or trap you into a space you don’t want to be in, you just have to accept that they exist so you stop unconsciously resisting them.
Now you can get on with doing what matters in the grand scheme of life.
