Guilt is something we all feel and I think it’s good that we do.

It’s humbling and helps us to keep things real. We all need to be humbled, over and over.

Just like any low vibrating emotion, it’s not helpful to stay feeling guilty. We need to feel it, process it, learn from it, and then move forward.

If we hang out with guilt for too long it turns into shame. We begin to believe that we are bad and unworthy of love. This is a scary, isolated, dangerous space to be in.

The most important thing to remember is that we are human, we learn through experience, and we are always doing the best we can. Sometimes we wish our experiences stemmed from better choices, but it’s all part of the game of life.

Feeling guilt is a signal that something needs to change, it’s not a life sentence. Just as a side note, someone who tries to punish you with guilt, probably has a few things to learn about self love themselves.
