It has taken me a very long time to see it.
Maybe it’s because I had trapped myself into a very small world by staying at home with my kids for so many years….
Maybe it’s because I was immature and ego driven…
It’s likely a combination of both of those things, but it’s also because I just didn’t know what I didn’t know.
I couldn’t see how much people (myself included) selfishly and arrogantly run around with a “look at me” sign.
It’s like we never grow up from the child who is constantly saying, “mom watch this”, and then sits on the floor, or lays down and pretends he’s dead.
The adult version of that is “have you seen what I made?”, “look at what I’m selling”, and “watch what I am doing”.
Nobody cares, and yet some of us don’t seem to grow up out of it.
We live in an age where social media has forced us all into marketing ourselves in one way or another, and it has brought out a whole lot of “hey guys, watch this!”, while someone does something very ordinary and unremarkable. Just like we are all 2 years old again.
Sharing is important, and showing up is important.
Social media doesn’t work if we don’t share so it’s important that we do.
But let’s show up in a way that adds value to other people’s lives.
What can you share today that is remarkable or will make someone else’s life better or easier?
