Over the weekend I was asked what I do in my spare time.
My daughter responded for me and told our friends that I go outside and just sit… staring into space. She thinks she’s pretty funny.
I do love to sit in the sun and I would do it a lot more often if I could.
But the reason I do it is because if I have a minute to sit, then I don’t want the constant stimulus of life from electronics coming at me.
In the past I would choose to have someone with me, something to do, or something to occupy my mind instead of being alone or being still.
However when I realized that the way you think, and what you think, and how you think deeply affects, alters, and ultimately creates your life I started to think much more intentionally.
I read to learn new ways of thinking.
I listen to podcasts to learn new ways of thinking.
I take classes and courses to learn new ways of thinking.
I meditate and write to uncover what I’ve been thinking that might be holding myself back.
I can’t hear myself if I have someone else’s thoughts, words, or ideas coming at me all of the time, and I’ve learned that I’m far better off when I give myself an opportunity to just think.
Just for today, I encourage you to sit in the sun and stare into space. Let yourself be free of the stimulus and take some time to think.
Think about what you’re thinking about – and look for reasons why you think that way.
The more time you give yourself to think, the more you can level up your thinking. The more you level up your thinking, the better things get.
