People want to be seen.
They want to be acknowledged for who they are, and for the effort they are putting in.
Yes, your spouse is supposed to do spousey jobs.
Yes, your mom is supposed to care for you.
Yes, your dad is supposed to protect you.
Yes, your kids are supposed to behave.
And maybe they don’t always do what they are supposed to do.
But they do at some times, and in some ways…
And even if they are supposed to do all of the things they are supposed to do – they don’t have to. I’ve seen lots of people who don’t have spouses who contribute, moms who care, and dads who protect.
So even if they are supposed to do it… it matters that they do it.
It matters that they show up .
And it matters that they care about you.
And they will do more of it if you see them. And appreciate them. And do the same for them.
Just for today… let the people who are doing what they are “supposed to do” know that you appreciate them for being here, in your life.
Get very specific, say the words from your heart, and make it count.
