Just for today let’s remember the pause.
The pause is what gives definition to our lives, it’s the space between the notes, between action and reaction, and, words and replies.
My Grandfather used to pause, chewing on his toothpick and I can remember watching him like it was yesterday… he would pause before he spoke and even in my youth I recognized I as a sign of maturity and wisdom, and it forced me to pause with him in anticipation of what was to come.
When I think of any really great leader, or guru, I can see their pause.
The pause gives you the space to make a choice for yourself in the moment.
You can choose your words, you can choose to breathe, and it gives you time to choose love… love for others, and love for yourself.
The pause let’s you observe what’s happening, to freeze a moment in time, or to absorb all of the feelings, smells, and sounds of the season.
The pause gives you time to summon your inner wisdom.
The pause is the space you create to give yourself time to think before you speak, to choose higher ground, and to open your heart to the person in front of you.
Just for today, let’s practice the pause… and maybe it will give us the freedom to create this day the best we can.
