Our society is so stuck on instant gratification.
I’m not going to lie, I love it when things happen fast and I don’t think I’m alone there.
But not everything can happen quickly. Some things are better if they take their time.
The journey is so rich in growth and knowledge and I appreciate that part of life so much now, I don’t want to jump to the end goal.
We really need to take the time to become who we need to be so we are ready when we arrive there.
Zig Ziglar said, “what you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals”.
The key is to not take your eye off the goal…always keep moving towards it, so you actually get there.
That’s where I have gone wrong so many times before.
When I perceived there were obstacles I didn’t know how to conquer, or the pain of the current situation was too much to bear, I would back away and back down not wanting “the fight” or saying it wasn’t worth it.
Then I would look for something else that appeared to be an easier path.
I didn’t know then that every path has its own set of challenges and that’s what makes us grow. Just like Einstein said, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it”.
The journey is the rewarding part, and the many rewards you receive along the way are fun. Meeting new people, making new connections, learning new skills, letting go of old beliefs and making progress towards something you want.
The struggle is hard, but the breakthroughs are worth it. And if you stick with it, you will have many breakthroughs and make progress.
The progress you make is where the gems lie. That’s where we flourish. Tony Robbins says “happiness comes in one word: progress.”
He’s right about that.
So make a wish… and then never stop believing.
