Our brains require a lot of energy to function.

And because it takes so much energy for our brain to function, it likes to settle into routine, familiarity, and auto pilot. As on as it gets to autopilot it takes less energy to operate.

And that’s fundamentally why change feels so hard for us.

The crazy part is that we know change is hard, and yet we think we are immune to it.

But I’ve got news for you… just because you know change is hard, it doesn’t mean that you are going to sail through it.

You will have mini melt downs, you will have resentment and bitterness, you will have resistance, you will try to control things, you won’t easily allow it to happen, and you will probably have a few pity parties.

And it’s all ok because change is hard on us and you aren’t immune to that.

But the good news is, as soon as you recognize and accept that you are struggling with the change, it becomes easier.

And the surprising part is that change doesn’t actually have to be hard, we are the ones who make it that way.
