When you keep hearing the same unsolicited message in different ways and from entirely different sources pay attention to it. It’s grabbing you for a reason.
I was having trouble getting motivated for exercise last year and I started searching for what other people use as motivation. I dove into Instagram posts, blogs, and google looking for the answer.
I found a few superficial reasons, then I saw a picture showing the bone density of a senior who had exercised his whole life versus one that hadn’t. It was very helpful.
But another message has been showing up. It’s taken me a while to realize it, but now that I’m seeing it I can see several messages over the last year that I hadn’t connected.
Movement is crucial to our health.
Not so that we are thin, or muscular, although those are some nice perks. But because living things are built to move.
Except for trees and plants.
Movement flushes our systems, helps our hormones balance, loosens up our joints, and keeps us alive.
I have seen several examples of doctors and vets telling us not to move, and when people or animals move anyway, the return to health is faster.
We are not trees. We function best when we follow our design. Find a way to get on the move.
I’ll share the other message tomorrow
