There are 2 more days until the winter solstice.

As I hustle and bustle around trying to get everything ready for Christmas, I am always looking forward to the solstice.

I see it as the end of the light cycle for the year, starting on the 22nd we begin to receive new light.

With new light comes a new way of seeing things, new inspiration, and new hope.

Take the next couple of days of darkness to reflect on 2017, or years prior.

Process your failures and disappointments.

Think about what you said you would do that didn’t work out or hasn’t happened.

Think about all of the things that you might feel disappointment about.

Sort through any of the mistakes you made that you might be holding shame or embarrassment about.

Remember that thing from the past that you’ve buried and decided to never talk about again.

Flip through your memory bank and notice what events stand out as important to you.

Was there success you didn’t recognize at the time, or that came in a different package than you expected?

At what point were you really winning at life this year?

As you reminisce, notice the feelings that come up in you over certain memories.

Pay close attention to the ones that are emotionally charged and over the next 2 days, sit with those memories asking what you can learn from them.

As we start to receive new light, ask for new light to shine on the hurts and disappointments.

We are about to begin again.
