Our ego likes to point out the “one thing” that makes or breaks something.
But it’s never just one thing…
A lot of people asked me how I knew my marriage was over. Honestly, I never knew and I still don’t because it wasn’t one event, one word, one moment.
It’s the accumulation of things over time.
It’s not one thing that creates success. It’s not one thing that causes a health issue. It’s not one thing that makes our health break down, or a horse blow up.
Every “thing” matters. The little things matter, but so do the big things. It’s a lot of seeing the signs, continuous learning and growth, and being careful to not be careless.
Luckily this means we can make a mistake and it won’t be the death of us, but when we don’t self correct the accumulation begins.
If you eat a healthy diet all of the time and have one donut, it’s ok. But if you ignore your diet and eat donuts and cookies all of the time, it’s going to be a problem.
The same goes with your marriage, your career, your parenting, your health, and your self discipline. It’s never one thing that makes or break you and it’s hard to go back in time and unravel it.
