I used to skim quickly through articles and books.

I noticed recently that the way I read has changed the more I write.

When I write I put thought into every thought I share.

Sometimes I just stare at the blank screen trying to find a way to say what I want to say.

Sometimes the words come easily.

But I never write willy nilly.

Now when I read what someone else has written, I pay attention to their thoughts. I wonder what they were thinking as they wrote the words, I wonder about the lens they are looking through, and I try to really understand the point they are trying to make.

The downside is that’s it’s taking me longer to read everything… and I do typically like fast.

The upside is, when I read this way I’m gaining a deeper understanding of what I’ve just read.
