Reworking the point of view

by jodi // May 16

After listening to a Eckhart Tolle on the Super Soul Sunday podcast for his book A New Earth, I’m rethinking the way I view my goals.

Goals are meant to keep us progressing and moving forward. They set the mark so we know which direction we are heading and it helps us make better decisions, be more disciplined, and go places we might not otherwise fumble into. They keep us intentional.

When we set a goal that is not easily achieved we have to become a new version of ourselves in order to get there. That isn’t as scary as it sounds. It simply means more clarity in areas where we are foggy. It is facing our limiting beliefs, speaking our truth, and refining or honing in on our values and priorities.

Because goals appear to be something we strive for or haven’t achieved previously, we think that they are external and we have to “go get them”.

Eckhart says that is scarcity thinking and that we will not be able to do our best work from that space. Alternatively we need to believe that what we are trying to achieve is already inside of us, our job is simply to bring it to form.

Deep down inside I know he’s right. We have to get out of our own way before we get there.

But it sure has my mind doing mental gymnastics with my current list of goals.

Looking at what you want to achieve as something that is already inside of you instead of something you’re reaching for changes the energy and perspective.

You have to bring it out of you and into life instead of chase it.
