You know the old saying “cold hands, warm heart”?
I googled the meaning of it.
The idea is that people who appear cool or stand offish on the exterior are warm and cuddly on the inside. Most search results said it was a myth.
What I have discovered is that soft hands equal a soft heart.
I learned about soft hands riding and showing horses. There is a lot of communication between horse and rider done through our hands. Not just in steering, but in supporting, coaxing, schooling, connecting, loving, and feeling.
I was taught soft hands while playing piano, I watched my boys playing hockey and they were taught about soft hands while handling the puck, and when my mother in law taught me how to make her world class pie crust, she told me I had to have soft hands.
Finesse and grace come from having soft hands.
Our arms are extensions of our heart and the placement of our arms on our bodies is no accident. When you pay attention your hands are an expression of what is in your heart.
In the healing modalities I have learned, reiki, true touch body balancing, and tuning forks… we learned about how the energy flows out through our hands. The more you pay attention to it, the more you feel it.
What you feel in your heart is spread through your arms and out your hands. If your heart is scared and blocked, your hands are tight and stiff. But when your heart is open and caring, your hands are soft and loving.
You can make prettier music with soft hands. You can hold someone with love, you can create beautiful art, and make flakier pie crust by paying more attention to your hands.
The more you tune in the more it will mean when you lend a hand, hold hands, and shake someone’s hand. Let it always come from your heart.
