Because we are hard wired to reach for what feels good, we don’t always process things in a way that honours the journey.
In other words, we don’t want to talk about the bad stuff because we don’t want to come across as complainers or negative Nelly’s, we want to skip to the good stuff.
But sometimes you must because when it’s trapped inside of you, it begins to wear you down.
It’s helpful to keep a kitchen cabinet of people that will support you while you spew. They can remind you why you started, where you’re going, and listen while you spew the chaos that is happening inside your head.
As long as you keep reaching for better, you will get there by treading through the muck. It’s not very often you can get to “better” without clearing the way.
Keep talking until you’ve said it all, that’s how it clears, and then reach for a better thought. You want to be aware of where you’re at… get it all out, but don’t get stuck.
You get through the muck step by step. The only way through it… is through it. You can’t put the cart before the horse and hope that you’ll still get to where you intend to go.
