I put everything I had into being a mom for the first 12 years.
I remembered my mom warning me not to lose myself to the point I didn’t know who I was. So in the back of my mind I occasionally worried about what might happen to me when the kids grew up and left.
I think it’s a pretty common thing for everyone.
We put so much time and energy, effort and focus into building our lives and raising our children, that when that job is “done” we don’t know what to do with ourselves.
I love that we all have our own unique blend of a beautiful kind of crazy inside. We all come with our special gifts and the expertise we glean during our journey is our very own concoction created by the experiences we have had.
There is a reason for you to be here on earth. If there wasn’t, you wouldn’t still be here.
Maybe you could take moms advice and start figuring it out before “the job” is done.
And when the job is “done”, maybe that’s only the beginning.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
