The best and the worst of humanity.

I’ve been watching all of us.

And I have been reminded on an hourly basis about a saying Wayne Dyer had that went like this:

When you squeeze an orange, you’ll always get orange juice to come out. What comes out is what’s inside. The same logic applies to you: when someone squeezes you, puts pressure on you, or says something unflattering or critical, and out of you comes anger, hatred, bitterness, tension, depression, or anxiety, that is what’s inside. If love and joy are what you want to give and receive, change your life by changing what’s inside.”

So many people are showing their insides to us right now. And I have felt so disappointed in so many people. There is some ugly stuff out there right now. And while I am keeping in mind that we are all feeling heightened emotions, there are a lot of people who are handling it with more grace than others.

I came across this clip from Governor Cuomo, and he helped me to remember that the best of humanity comes from the most unexpected places.

Maybe I’ve been let down by my own expectations, or maybe I’m looking in the wrong places for inspiration. Either way, I love the story the Governor shares with his own spin on Wayne Dyers quote.
