I dream of a world where everyone is thoughtful, compassionate, and generous. Where you don’t have to get big just to stand up for yourself, and during conflict a simple conversation brings resolution that is a win/win for everyone.
Unfortunately our society doesn’t operate this way. It’s not hard to find plenty of scarcity and dog eat dog mentality, prevailing ego, and a determination to squash another human on the rise to the top.
On the flip side, I hang out in places online where the opposite is true and we are ever closer to my dream world.
I have a strong faith in humanity. I believe people want to be good and do right by others but fear takes over and old conditioning shows up.
How do we help these people who haven’t been able to break free from the antiquated fear based ways of the past?
“Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and an apprentice.” – Yoda
We have to be teachers.
In order to teach, we need to first learn the material.
As often as possible, tune into stillness. That is where our presence is found. You can learn it most by studying plants and trees. They stand tall and they are deeply rooted, taking up all of the space they need in the world and not apologizing for it.
We need to be mindful to not lower ourselves to a fear based level, and to not lay down for someone who is operating in fear.
You can recognize their fear because we have all been gripped in fear and behaving irrationally, but you don’t need to own their fear, you simply might notice it.
Continue to stand tall in love and you will continue to slowly rise.
They may or may not join you, and it’s likely that they won’t until they find a reason to.
Change always starts with us.
We can be the master or the we can be the apprentice.
