I spent a lot of years with bill collectors calling and scraping by with barely any groceries.  There was constant financial stress.

I yearned for nice new things.  My clothes were old and outdated,    I didn’t love my house or my car, and didn’t love many of the small material possessions I did have.

Every ‘extra’ penny that came in went to paying off debt that was only built back up again the next month.

As I became slightly more financially independent and was able to purchase nice new things… I was so dissapointed at how quickly those new things became ordinary and were now used.

I couldn’t afford to keep up with the newest things, and the things I did buy became used and ordinary really fast.

It kind of turned me off of buying expensive new things.

They just don’t stay new.
