Our beliefs are the underlying framework for the decisions we make and the actions we take.
They are tricky because they lie underneath the surface.
Some of them are formed from our worldview and we have seen evidence to back up what we believe and the story that follows our belief.
Others are the rules we have picked up from our family of origin or the dogma of the religion we grew up in.
Once you unearth a limiting belief, it seems so obvious that it was there all along… but until that point it is something you have accepted as truth without really knowing it.
You will find them sitting in the areas that you are stuck and can’t freely move forward.
Pay attention to the moment you want to stop when you are trying to move through a barrier… those moments are golden for tapping into what belief you may be holding.
What is the story you tell yourself in that moment?
Maybe you are eating something unhealthy because you have told yourself a romantic story about food rather than the boring fact it is used for fuel.
Maybe you have hit a financial ceiling because in your family of origin your sibling was supposed to lead the way in all things.
Maybe you can’t choose what’s right for you because your religion has always taught you to put others first.
Maybe you can’t get emotionally close to someone because you believe vulnerability is weakness.
I have had a big year of uncovering my limiting beliefs while I refuse to accept being stuck as an answer.
EFT has helped me in ways I don’t understand to uncover the blocks I had and the beliefs I was holding. (You can find a wealth of information about tapping on everything from grief, to food cravings, to troubles with inlaws and teenagers here)
If you are genuinely wanting to move forward, you need to start digging into your belief network.
There will be answers there to questions you didn’t even know you had.
As you uncover and expose the beliefs your holding, they lose their power over you and moving forward becomes effortless.
