I was visiting with a friend on the weekend that has watched my journey over the last 6 years and she told me that I have my PhD now. She might be right. I’ve been on a pretty intense learning journey in the school of life.

One thing I’ve noticed recently is that we don’t always recognize when we get “there”.

When we realize our shortcomings or bad habits and we begin to see the patterns we have developed around them, we begin to believe that we are those shortcomings.

We get so busy trying to compensate for it or create new habits, that we don’t notice when we have changed.

It’s important to recognize the turning point.

There will come a time when you are no longer the person you used to be.

At that time you can trust yourself to keep moving forward and stay within the new boundaries you’ve set for yourself.

There is a moment when you will no longer accept your old way of doing things. Once you recognize it, you can stop putting energy into “making sure” you don’t regress, and start putting your energy into getting on with where you want to go.

If the warrior doesn’t recognize he’s become a warrior, after all of the years of training he may never go to battle.

Look for the signs that show you that you have grown up, you have made the change, you are no longer who you used to be.

Then embrace it and move forward.

These are the rewards of the journey, don’t forget to accept them.
