Your emotions are usually a map. They are trying to tell you something.
It’s not always easy to decipher them. Often we don’t recognize them for what they are, we only know we are uncomfortable and that can make us afraid or cranky.
Just because we are feeling something though doesn’t mean we aren’t in control of it. You are always the one responsible for how you feel.
It gets confusing when we are in a situation that is no longer healthy for us. We feel miserable and when we try to take responsibility for that misery we miss important messages.
Your narrative will change everything.
But you must pay very close attention to the story you are telling yourself.
Once you realize a situation isn’t healthy your narrative will often turn into a rant and your story will be constantly validating the “unhealthiness” of it.
This will make you miserable.
You can choose what you focus on to improve the way you feel. You can choose gratitude, and joy even in the worst of situations.
When the time is right you will change circumstances. But if you don’t fix your story first, your misery will follow you.
We all have so much more control than we think we do. How we feel can change almost anything. And how you feel is always up to you.
