Sometimes when I’m talking to my lawyer, I literally have no idea what he just said.

He will be making a plan for something and for the most part I’m lost in the wilderness.

I assume it must be obvious because every once in a while he will stop talking and ask me if I understand.

Maybe it’s the blank ‘deer in the headlights’ look I’m giving him?

I feel this way when I’m talking to my chiropractor sometimes, the vet, the osteopath and the horse wellness lady we took classes from earlier this year.

Every once in a while I’m on the other side of the equation.
I had a friend ask me about connection.

She didn’t know that’s what she was talking about… she felt alone, disconnected from her husband and like her life was missing something.

But when I started to give the answer, her eyes glazed over.

I get it.

When you haven’t yet walked the path, and haven’t read everything you can get your hands on it’s a lot to take in.

The key is knowing you’re disconnected from yourself.
The next steps are a lot harder.

Connection comes from brutal truth telling, which means admitting and saying all of the things you don’t want to say.

You have to deep dive into your insecurities, allow yourself to be vulnerable, admit your faults, shortcomings and fears, face the feelings of shame and unworthiness, and take responsibility for it all… no blaming allowed.

It’s dark and uncomfortable, it doesn’t feel at all like fun, and it takes all sorts of courage.

In those spaces are where you find truth and connection to yourself.

In those moments you find out who you really are and what you want.

But not everybody wants to hear this.

When your life has turned out according to your plan…you live in a nice house, you love your work and your family, you have great friends and a nice life…it’s hard to imagine what might be missing.

Our soul has a yearning, and when we don’t listen to the ring, we can’t answer the call.

What’s your soul trying to tell you?

“You have to love yourself because no amount of love from others is sufficient to fill the yearning that your soul requires from you” – unknown
