I went back and read my very first ever blog post.

I remember writing that just less than a year ago.  I was sitting in my office, starting something new because Seth Godin said it was a good idea.  I wrote something that scared me because James Altucher said that was a good idea.

And I’ve been doing it ever since.

Brene Brown said: “Midlife: when the universe grabs you by the shoulders and tells you, I’m not F-ing around, use the gifts you were given”.

There is something about this age and stage of life we are at…

We are good and tired of putting up with other people’s crap.

We are tired of compromising ourselves and our happiness.

We have lived just long enough to start to understand the things that truly matter, and the things we thought mattered aren’t important anymore.

We are being forced into and through circumstances where we have to face the truth of who we are and how we got here.

We are ready to start living life the way we want to
But there is still the little voice of doubt underneath it all.

Am I right?

Would it be ok if I lived life the way I want to?

Is this selfish?

Are my feelings important?

What about Tom or Bill or Brenda?

What about the kids?

And then we hesitate.
Because these are big questions, and huge feelings and life is scary and we are beginning to understand we don’t know the answers.

This is the stage where we stop listening to the world and start listening to ourselves…and I will be the first to tell you, it’s not easy but it’s worth it.
