There are two ways to look at any situation you don’t have control of but are affected by:
It’s happening to you
It’s happening for you.
The only difference between the two is the story you’re telling yourself.
The first one is easy to believe, but hard on your person. It puts you in victim mode, on the defence and turns on your fight or flight response. It’s stresses your body, it wears you out and you feel like you are a part of some cruel and unusual punishment.
The second one is much harder to believe, but it gives you inner peace and leaves you with hope for the future, a curiosity to see what happens next, and the strength to pull through and get to the other side.
If you were to make a conscious choice, which one would you choose?
