Time slips by so quickly. It is our most important resource and so often we take it for granted.

But we have been given the gift of time right now.

Some of us don’t have anywhere to be, and most of us have seen a large majority of our schedules crumble.

But I have already seen my days slip by without making the most of my time.

I have felt scattered and uncertain. I have felt threatened and on high alert.

I have not been focused or nearly as productive as I would like.

This isn’t the first time I’ve felt this way. I have learned that when our basic needs are threatened we can’t expand into higher conscious levels.

Our basic needs consume us until we have looked after them.

Maslow’s hierarchy shows us that we need to have each level of our needs met before moving to the next. And since right now our basic needs feel like they are being threatened, we need to pay attention to them.

It consumes us when we think our basic needs and safety are at stake.

The facts are that our basic needs aren’t threatened. We are hearing about how we will be supported and what is being done to protect us. But things have changed and it feels scary.

The best thing you can do for yourself is work on your mindset. Wherever you are feeling unstable, dig in.

Think about the very worst case scenario and what you will do if it happens.

What will you eat?

Where will you live?

What will keep you safe?

How will you maintain connection with others and feel loved?

Answer these questions with worst case scenarios so that you know even under worst case scenario you will be ok.

Once you know those needs are looked after, you will be able to look at your life and make the most of the gift of time you have been given.

What is something you have always wanted to learn but don’t ever have the time?

Do you want to learn a new language?

Do you want to learn to knit?

Do you want to learn how to carve wood?

Now is the time to do it! Progressing is important for your mental health and well being. How can you keep moving onward so that you don’t look back and wonder where this time went?

Paint a room?

What have you wanted to do?

Clean out a closet?

Play an instrument?

When this is over you will be so much more proud of yourself if you used the time to your advantage.

In order to sit down and focus you have to get those basic needs met. Then you can expand.

If you have extra time on your hands, decide something right now that you’ve been wanting to do that you will begin.

The time will go fast, don’t let it be wasted.
