I used to save almost every interesting meme or quote on my phone. My storage was full of them. I love the wisdom I can draw out of other peoples thoughts.
I no longer fill up my camera roll with them, but the odd time I come across one that really speaks my language.
And I save it.
The other day there was a new one I hadn’t seen before that showed up on my feed without any attribution to the author.
“Your competition isn’t other people. Your competition is your procrastination. Your ego. The unhealthy food you’re consuming, the knowledge you neglect. The negative behaviour you’re nurturing & your lack of creativity. Compete against that.”
People around me get tired of hearing me say it’s not about the other person. Because 98% of the time it’s not.
It’s our choices, our boundaries, our triggers, our wounds, and our belief patterns that are the real issue.
We give way to much credit to other people and situations, and forget that we have been gifted agency of our own lives.
We just need to be clear on who the competition really is.
You are always the one who’s standing in your way. The hard part is figuring out how.
