I knew things were going bad and we weren’t winning at life.
It was obvious everywhere I looked, but I couldn’t figure out why.
It is so hard to see from the inside, when you know all of the history, reasons, excuses and muck.
The more distance I get from that life, the more I can see the perpetual cycle of self sabotage.
Self sabotage happens in small decisions.
It doesn’t happen all of the time, which is what made it hard for me to detect.
It’s the one time you think you just can’t or don’t want to and choose to hide instead.
The other time you find a reason to back away, back down or not execute.
Self sabotage happens when you say no to moving forward, to being brave, and to pushing through.
It happens when you have a goal, or a job, or a class or a meeting, but don’t show up.
Self sabotage is not a huge act of giving up on life.
It’s in the little things you neglect, resist, turn away from, and resist once in a while.
You can’t win at life if you self sabotage.
