Words hurt.  They can be the sneakiest of all weapons because they get inside you and they fester.

I remember a girlfriend saying, “I wish he would beat me instead, because at least the wounds would heal…I can’t get his words out of me head.”

The deeper the relationship, the deeper level that the words penetrate into you.

Then I learned “what comes out of a persons mouth says more about them than you”.

And Wayne Dyer said…

“When you squeeze an orange, you get orange juice because that’s what’s inside. The very same principal is true about you. When someone squeezes you – puts pressure on you – what comes out is what’s inside.”

So I started listening to people from that angle instead of internalizing everything… it’s been very interesting.

People can’t talk about something they don’t know about.  How could they?   They don’t even know it exists.  They literally can only speak from their heart, experiences and the view they have on the world.

This has given me all sorts of insight into the people I meet.  You can almost always tell a flower from a weed by the way it smells.

When they are talking they are telling me who they are, not who I am.
That puts a whole new spin on words that hurt doesn’t it?
