Would You Lie With Me, And Just Forget The World?

I was listening to a podcast the other day with Tim Ferriss.

In it they were talking about taking timers enjoy the small things and  to stop and smell the roses.   Literally.

From there they went into the calming effects of stargazing.

There were nights I would take blankets, go outside and lay on my trampoline and look at the stars.

I’ve heard it said before that if people sat outside and looked at the stars they would live their life a lot differently.

It’s true I think, you can’t stop and take in the whole universe without feeling a deep reverence for it, and for those moments you do forget the world.

Some nights the moon would light up the sky so brightly, and other nights it was extremely dark.

I would watch the stars twinkle, look for the Big Dipper and the Baby Dipper and watch the satellites move through the sky.

Once in a while I would see a shooting star, and sometimes it felt like the stars were shining just for me.

I learned there is a whole different and beautiful perspective on the other side of the clock from those days of stargazing on my trampoline.  The world feels different in the still of the night.

Those have become some of my fondest memories and I’m grateful for the reminder on that podcast.   I will be heading back out when the nights are warm again.
