It’s been a while since we have visited the Marianne Williamson quote, so it’s probably time to talk about it again.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others“
This hotel sounds like lip service until you try to show up.
It can be a grind to keep moving past your comfort zone, asking more of yourself than you’re capable of, and to show up differently.
If you don’t believe me, just try playing a bigger game. You’re awkward and unsure most of the time. You don’t ever know if you’re doing the right things, and you hold back because you can only take so much at once.
But she’s right. The whole quote is true.
And “as you let your light shine, you unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
So if you can’t do it for you, do it for the people around you, whether it’s your friends, your kids, or strangers who need to see what is possible.
Be the one who shows them what is possible.
