I witnessed a pretty neat thing this month.
I’m Facebook friends with a lady named Charity Hutchinson.
We became friends through a local Facebook group where she offered to run a ‘declutter your house’ challenge that I joined a few years back. We have never met in person.
Charity is the person who originally posted how to share the Santa story that has gone viral around the internet. If you click the link you will see there has been over 12,000 shares on it now.
So she kept us apprised on how it was all going down, but right from the get go she didn’t try to take credit for it, even though she easily could have.
Huff post called and interviewed her and posted it on their website, then Upworthy interviewed her, then Scary Mommy and everytime she said she was racking her brains to find the person whom she had heard it from (who did eventually come forward).
All the while Charity was so excited… but also making sure to give credit to her photographer friend who took her family photo posted with the articles.
I think this was remarkable. She clearly lives up to her name.
A brief bio of Charity from my shoes… she has 2 little autistic boys (tough right?) yet she always finds ways to celebrate their unique character… all of the time. She’s super authentic and shares her heart, struggle and triumphs openly and publicly to encourage others.
I am constantly admiring her courage.
The icing on this story? She openly loves and talks about her love of Christmas all year round and now she has shared some of that love with the world.
I love that this world is full of so many good people.
I also love when good people and good ideas are recognized. That’s what is so ingenious about social media, it gives us a platform for spreading love… virally.
