I hear your point, but I think you’re missing mine.

It’s not very often that someone gives you helpful feedback.

Usually you get crickets and have to figure it out on your own, sometimes you get backlash because you have pushed the hot buttons, and occasionally you hear from someone who has taken things in a completely different direction.

But very seldom does someone generously take the time to really understand your position and try to help you with what you can’t see.

The key is recognizing this rare breed of thoughtful feedback when it happens and really taking to heart what that person has to say. They see something you don’t.

The worst thing you can do is defend. We already heard your point.
