You know where you came from. You know your story better than anyone.
Your opinion of whether you’ve had a blessed and relatively easy life, or whether you’ve had a hard life with endless struggle matters… but not as much as you think it does.
You may have messed up. You might have made a wrong move, or you might have made no move at all for fear of making a wrong move.
Somebody may have betrayed you or you may have betrayed someone else.
You have probably been lied to, treated with disrespect, ignored, yelled at, reprimanded, blamed, run over, pushed around, and unappreciated. It matters…but it doesn’t matter to us.
It matters to you because that’s where you learn. Each one gives you a new understanding of the world, a new lens to look from, a reason to dig deeper and learn.
But where you came from doesn’t matter to us. We have our own race to run and our own path to travel.
What does matter to us is that you are brave. That you get back up, open your heart, move forward and share what you’ve learned.
What matters to us is that you are doing what’s right for you because we benefit the most when you are.
We want to see your light shine, we want to learn what you’ve learned, we want to hear your stories and glean from your wisdom.
We want you to show up.
We don’t know how you will show up. We can’t choose that for you. If we did it couldn’t be right.
You have to make that choice.
You have to choose you.
And we are waiting for you.
These are the words I wished someone had said to me. I had no idea the world was waiting for me. I couldn’t see that I was the only one who was holding me back. I didn’t know that all of the roles I played, the to do lists I had, and the jobs I was doing were just an excuse to hide.
Now that I’ve seen the other side and I’ve seen that new beginnings hold all sorts of miracles, I am learning that all you have to do is trust.
